Aug. 8th, 2011 11:16 amWell, my main sewing machine died yesterday, so it has to go into the shop. I hope I can afford the fix. Luckily, my old machine, which I gave to Daugher Number Two, is living here while she's in Korea, so I can use it. I really need to get the 1900 Singer electric a replacement box or get the pressure foot lifter replaced on the treadle so I can use those. While I'm doing more and more handsewing, there's still some things that are better by machine.

Date: 2011-08-09 04:42 am (UTC)Sorry I don't have a spare machine anymore. Randy has momma's sewing machine and that leaves me with only three - and as much as I love you, I am not loaning you the featherweight!
I found something like ten vintage steel sewing machines at St. Vincent de Paul the last time I looked. mostly cased and in fair condition. of course before I put a lost machine through its paces,I would have to take it to the shop for a check up. probably wouldn't save you any money at all.
