Writer's Block: Rescue mission

Screw the arsonist; I'd first try to save the members of my family, fur and otherwise, then I'd grab my computer because of all the pictures on it.  And if I knew who the arsonist was, the cops better get to him/her first.

I didn't want to post my answer as it went something like this:

There would be no arsonist to save. And if the fire did the job well enough, no evidence that I shot him in the kneecaps first.

I'm with you there. Anyone who sets fire to an occupied building has just declared their willingness to die in said fire.

The first thing I'd save would be my gun...cause I'd need it to use on the arsonist, as soon as the fire was put out. There wouldn't be time for the cops to "get there first".
