I had a great time at June Faire.  I got to have the Tailor's Shop almost exactly as I had planned it, I got to chat with folks about clothes and how they were made, and sewing tools, and apprenticeships and measurements and period pencils, and, and, and......

One of the many high points was flying around the event on the Laurelmobile with Laurellen, Gwen and Morgaine.  I think that needs to happen again, with a soundtrack next year.  Sorry, folks, for having to go back to camp so early, but I had company, and well, there was music to be made.

I also didn't kill myself at this event.  I think most of this is due to not trying to go back and forth to camp several times, and from forcing myself to not lift anything over 10 lbs or bend over if there was someone around to do it for me (SCA event, hello?).  Of course, this means that I actually woke up and got myself to classes yesterday and back home before I collapsed and napped most of the day away.  Then, of course, I was up until almost 2, but I did sleep well, didn't wake up too late, and while today is going to be a lazy day, aside from some muscle soreness, I don't feel too bad.  I might actually get the event laundry and dishes done today.

I have a list of clothes I need to make for myself, I also have 3 clients I need to contact as soon as finals are over this week.  Since I lost my good stays, I need to make another pair.  I'm going to do these by hand, if the arthritis allows, and stiffened with reeds.  I also have a Super Sekrit Project in the planning stages, so I need to get that started.

I also am feeling like a slacker.  I want to contribute to largess, but I don't do anything that really lends itself to being made for an anonymous recipient, or in bulk.  I make clothes, I dabble in perfume and music, and I like to embroider, although I haven't had much time for that.  Any ideas of things I could make?

Needle holders. Sewing kits. Pretty pin cushions with pins. Veil pins in a pretty holder.

Embroidered book marks? Or maybe needlepoint. Doesn't have to be a lot either way...

well, I once I finish my hat I'm thinking of making bits of embroidered trim to give to largess. Nothing too complicated but in length long enough to use on a tunic or something.

I was thinking the same -- enough for neck and wrists!

Also, I'm super bummed that I wasn't able to stick around and hang out in the tailor's shop:(

I have bead stuff if you ever want to come and do that some time.
I like the sewing kit idea i am always needing to mend things at events. :)

Yep, I hear you about the largesse thing. I'm thinking about simple bags/pouches for stuff and maybe some simple shibori furoshiki (wrapping cloths) that can be used for a variety of things.
