The one I have now, except with someone else handling the bookkeeping, advertising and other office stuff. Maybe with a bit of teaching thrown in. I love designing and making costumes. I love the research. I even love dealing with my customers, because for the most part, when they spend as much as I charge, they're willing to trust my expertise. What I hate is the other stuff that goes into running your own business. Oh, and I really need to be able to afford to hire an assistant.

If you ever get to the point where you could hire an assistant just let me know, and I'd be willing to do it for half of what I normally make. :)

On the other hand, I'd also probably be willing to give you a couple of hours a month, or maybe even a couple of hours a week in exchange for sewing help.

Do you use a program to track all of your bookkeeping? There are some pretty simple ones that will even let you print out professional looking invoices and track all of your time/ expenses.

I'm a real Luddite when it comes to bookkeeping and my planner. I would much rather just use pencil and paper. However, since I just used the last pages in the ledger I've had for the last 25 years, and I'm having trouble finding them, I may have to just give in and learn how to use Quickbooks.

I am with you - I would love to be able to have afforded a machinist, to make up the basics, so I could do all the other stuff - I don't mind the paperwork even, just the actual making up. Leave me the trim and the hand finishing, and I'm happy.

I'm either really good at doing the creative stuff, OR really good at the bookkeeping/routine stuff. I can't seem to be really good at both, and I like the creative/research bits the best.

I think I would really enjoy making jewelry and costume accessories for a living. Problem is that it would be hard to make enough to support myself in the lifestyle to which I've become accustomed with it - especially until I get more skilled at it.

I think the two of us would make a good team...

should I ...

but this is how crafters galleries are started as businesses.

However, I am not productive enough to supply merchandise at the moment, I can however form the corporation, keep it legal and do most everything else behind the scenes.
