Just wrote this to the Congressdroids
Feb. 24th, 2004 09:36 amDear Senator Cantwell,
I am writing to urge you not to support the so-called "Defense of Marriage" constitutional amendment. I fully support the rights of gay, lesbian and transgendered people to marry and believe that anything less than secular legal marriage is discrimination. As a married person, I fail to see how allowing other people to marry and enjoy the same rights and responsibilities as do I and my husband, endangers my or anyone else's marriage. In addition, I believe that the only reasons for not allowing GLT marriage are religious based and so violate the First Amendment.
Thank you for your time and your attention to this most important matter.
