I got pictures from David and Tamsen's youngest son's wedding, which was last weekend in Virginia. I'd post them, but I'm strange and don't have a website and don't know how to post them anyway. I made the outfits for both David and Tamsen, and for their two oldest sons, Nate and Bren. It was a lot of fun to do, except that while I measured David and Tamsen while I was in Colorado last fall, I didn't get to send stuff back for a fitting before Tamsen was deployed to (classified location) for the war. It didn't look like she'd be back in time for the wedding, so I was told not to worry about her outfit. Guess what? She got back May first. I found out she was on her way 2 days before that, and had the whole outfit in the mail to her by the 3rd. It fit perfectly, which had worried me since I hadn't gotten a chance to fit it at all. By coincidence, the day I mailed her dress was also dress rehearsal for the production of "The Misenthrope" I costumed.

Well, I"m in the middle of a short rest. Sat. was the last night of the play, so I went and picked up the costumes. They turned out great, and everyone was pretty happy with them. I also met the Board of Directors of Island Players, who want me to submit a resume and list of times/places I can costume easily. They're doing what was going to be a reader's theatre version of Lion in Winter this fall, but I mentioned that the 12th century is one for which I have numerous costumes, and they're now thinking of fully staging it. More work is always good, especially that kind.

Katy and I are going out to buy fabric for her prom dress this afternoon. It's flamenco styled, http://www.folkwear.com/140.html for the pattern, except we're making it a halter neck instead. I'm pushing for red silk shantung (the kind of slubby slightly stiff kind), but we'll see what she gets. It should be gorgeous.

Mother's day was me being spoiled rotten. The night before, I got home from the play to find Gwen and her friend Spencer working on her computer. They managed to get whatever problem is had solved and so now Gwen is hooked up to the home network, and has moved all her stuff off my computer. Yeah! They also had a surprise for me on my computer: 2 files of mermaid and crow pictures and a copy of Photoshop 7.0. I now get to teach myself how to use photoshop, but that should be fun. The next morning, I was up before everyone else as usual, but when Katy got up, she and I went to the last performance of her school musical You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. This is not my favorite musical, but it's cute, and they did a phenomenal job on it. Good enough I gave them a standing ovation, which is something I don't often do. They gave all the mothers in the audience flowers, which was cool. Katy had too many choir classes this year to take musical theater, which is a shame, but she did lights and sound for the show. Hmmm, sounds familiar. Afterward we went to Evergreen Smoothies, which is where her best friend Sarah works and got yummy smoothy drinks. Sarah made me something with coconut and almonds and ice cream and a bunch of tropical fruit that was very good and ensured that I really didn't need the dinner that Gwen and Spencer had cooked for us when we got home. They had also cleaned up the house and gone grocery shopping. Really good Mother's Day.

The next day (mon) was our anniversary. Wade was off work, so we spent the day just goofing off. We cruised the mall, went for a drive on the waterfront and just had fun. Tuesday, the zoo had a free day for Tacoma residents, so we went and took the camera and tripod and had a blast. Wade took several rolls of film. I'm hoping the pictures he took of the 6 week old clouded leopard kittens turn out. They are adorable. It's very rare that they breed in captivity, and unfortuneately this is a case of there's more of them in zoos than in the wild anymore, since their habitat is disappearing. Our kitties breeding is a real big deal, because they've introduced new genetic material into the gene pool. There were originally 3 kittens, but one died due to mother-inflicted injuries, so the remaining two are being hand-raised by the keepers. They have their own nursery with more toys than human babies and they are really cute

Well, that's about it for now. I'm keeping busy sewing, Wade's busy with work, Katy's in the last stretch of high school and graduation and Gwen's mostly working on computer stuff.

Would love to see the pictures sometime! Not sure how to put pictures in a post either at this point. I've seen it done and know there's a way but... ((shrug)).

Oh and by the way they are having Cam chapter games in Tacoma again. If you are interested let me know and I'll forward you directions. Tracy and I got a wicked idea for having a return of the Brownies (or at least some of them) some time -- though we said we could work it so as to leave Wade out of it if he prefers. We'll really crack brains and say we've been released! Heh!

Want to see you some time and talk about a twisted idea I really want to do at some point - Tribal belly dance to the Spy Break tune from the Matrix soundtrack. I was thinking that next Norwescon could be fun...
