Good, bad, etc.
Feb. 15th, 2011 10:04 amGood: I'm participating in a private seminar on the Coast Salish world view, involving cosmology, geology, biology and history. This will involve 9 8-hour weekend days between now and June, with all of it taking place in the field. The instructor is both NA and a 30-professor of Anthropology, so it's the type of opportunity that doesn't come around very often, and I'm one of three students. Yes, I'm excited.
Good: My choir class is doing a Broadway revue, fully staged and costumed. I'm doing the costumes and singing in the choir.
Bad: because of having so many weekend days devoted to the seminar, I probably won't be able to do much in the way of SCA until after it's over. Also, since the performance for the revue is March 12th, it's mandatory for the class, and cast call is 1 pm, I won't be able to make Kingdom A&S. I might show up on Sunday, depending on the seminar schedule.
I'm really missing all my SCA friends and eventing. I'm hoping to make May Crown, and I WILL be at June Faire, but that's really not enough SCA time.
Good: I only have two required classes to graduate, so I will definitely be graduating in June--June 11th at the Tacoma Convention Center, for anyone who wants to come.
Bad: Because I'm taking the Art History sequence, I have to work my schedule around that class. They changed the class time next quarter to conflict with my preferred Social Science class, Cultural Linguistics. I can't get another class that interests me in that discipline except online, which I really don't like for SS. So, I'm taking PNW history online. Also, I can't find a science class (the other required class) that I like and that doesn't conflict with anything else, except online. So, I'm going to have two online classes, one full time on campus, and a two day a week on campus class.
Good: There's a built in 2 hour gap between the two on campus classes which will enable me to do most of my online classes in the library and so be able to track down the instructors if I have trouble.
I'm already taking summer and fall quarter off before I transfer; I'm really thinking about taking a year off, but I'm afraid I won't get back to it if I do. I really need a break right now, though.
